Refine your app’s design and build with a clearer plan
September 2026 · AI App Builder preview & platform improvements
This week’s builder updates make visual editing easier, help the assistant plan around your connected data, and keep your chosen design consistent as your app evolves. Templates load faster, and file imports and assistant responses are more reliable.
🎨 Preview: edit several elements before saving
Make adjustments across multiple elements, then apply them together with Save Changes. Use the eye button to hide selection outlines and see how your borders and other styling will look in the app.
The Elements Tree is back in the element editor. Browse and select parent or child elements to reach the exact part of a component you want to change.
🗺️ Preview: connect your data before planning
When you ask the assistant to build an app around an existing resource, the updated flow helps it request access and inspect the data structure before preparing a plan. Review the proposed app and confirm before generation starts.
Planning and generation now follow separate steps, improving consistency around resource access and plan confirmation. The preview waits until the initial generation finishes.
✨ Preview: keep your chosen design as you build
Your selected design now stays with the app and guides later requests, helping new pages and edits follow the same visual style. The design picker also includes more starting styles.
The default Jet design has been refined to produce layouts closer to the familiar Jet Admin style. Updated guidance also improves the appearance of generated controls, including date pickers, sliders, and select menus.
⚡ Get started faster with templates
Applying a template now copies its files concurrently, reducing the wait before setup completes. Preview startup has also been optimized so you can reach your app sooner.
The assistant is better at finding CSV files attached in earlier messages and using bulk import instead of creating records one by one.
🛠️ Fixes and refinements
Assistant progress: improved real-time updates during tool calls so long-running tasks are easier to follow.
File search and edits: fixed searches with folder or file filters returning no results, and fixed errors when the assistant removes text with a replace operation.
Element editing: improved detection of an element’s location in source code. Opening an element’s file now works even when no other files are open.
Sliders: fixed values continuing to change after releasing the mouse over an embedded frame.
App generation: reduced unnecessary checks for files and workflows in empty projects before generation starts.
Template gallery: the demo page now shows current templates instead of outdated demo apps.
Project management: deleting a project is faster when you have many projects.
Free plan email controls: custom built-in email templates are disabled on the Free plan, and the Send email action is limited to one email per minute.
Disabled and deleted projects: requests are blocked consistently across backend services, workflows, sync, and the Data API.
Edit your app visually and bring data into the builder

This week’s builder preview gives you more control over individual elements and makes it easier to start with your own files. Import data through the assistant, review the results, and stop unused previews when you need to free a preview slot.
🎨 Preview: fine-tune elements directly in your app
Select an element in the preview to open its style editor. Adjust backgrounds, including gradients, borders, corner radius, shadows, opacity, and spacing. Text elements also show typography controls.
Preview your adjustments before committing them. Discard cancels your pending edits, while Save Changes asks the assistant to apply them to your app’s source code so they persist after reloading.
You can also describe changes to the selected element in chat. Static text can be edited directly; for text generated from variables, use the assistant to update the underlying content.
📎 Preview: start your app with files
Attach files to your initial prompt before creating an app. Bring a CSV with your starting data or add supporting documents and images alongside your description.
Attachments appear in the prompt box, where you can remove files before starting generation.
📥 Preview: import data with automatic field mapping
Ask the assistant to import a CSV into Jet Tables. The new import tool processes the file in bulk, reducing the need for the assistant to create records one at a time.
The assistant can inspect the file’s columns and map them to fields in an existing collection, even when their names differ. Action details show the mapping, created records, and any import errors so you can review the result.
Manual import remains available in the Data workspace.
⏹️ Preview: stop previews you’re no longer using
If you reach the simultaneous preview limit, open an unused preview’s menu and select Stop Preview. This frees a slot so you can continue working in another app without waiting for the preview to stop on its own.
Restart Preview is available in the same menu.
🛠️ Fixes and refinements
New app styling: fixed spacing and styling issues affecting newly generated apps.
Google Sheets: fixed an error when retrieving the structure of a newly connected resource.
App imports: preview waits for the import to finish before starting.
Build reliability: fixed handling of Unicode characters in build output and corrected cases where the assistant used an invalid build command.
API documentation: fixed excess blank space on large screens and updated documentation links.
Assistant timeouts: deployed a fix for recurring request timeouts. We’re continuing to monitor the issue.
Free project limits: corrected daily app-creation limits to include projects switched to the Free plan.
Lovable imports, design selection, and authentication across environments

This week’s preview introduces new ways to bring an app into Jet Admin and choose its design before generation. Platform updates also improve authentication across environments and address issues with filtering, version history, and data editing.
📦 Preview: import a Lovable app
Upload an app archive and let the assistant adapt the project for Jet Admin. The import flow identifies a Lovable project, updates the files needed for compatibility, and attempts to run the app.
The initial flow has been tested with Lovable projects. Imports from other builders and migration of more complex data connections still need validation.
🎨 Preview: choose a design before building
Select a design alongside your prompt to guide the app’s appearance from the first generation. You can also start from a template’s design and describe a different app, rather than using the entire template.
This goes beyond changing theme colors after an app is created: the selected design can guide layouts, components, and imagery. The design selector and its template options are still in development.
⚡ Preview: more focused AI edits
The assistant can find relevant files and update specific sections without rewriting an entire file. This is intended to reduce the time spent on small changes and fixes across an existing app. The benefit depends on the task; generating new files still requires writing their contents.
🔐 Test authentication in different environments
Sign-in and sign-up flows can now use the selected non-production environment instead of always using production. This supports testing separate authentication configurations, including SSO and external authentication.
An optional shared key lets you reference corresponding authentication configurations by the same name in development and production, so queries and components do not need separate configuration IDs.

SDK filtering: fixed collection requests that ignored filters passed to
collection.list().Version history: fixed an issue that could leave a revert stuck after an earlier attempt failed.
Duplicate records: optional fields containing values remain visible when duplicating a record.
Resource search: fixed the Create Resource dialog changing width while searching.
Template previews: apps created from a template retain its preview image.
Assistant details: improved code display in tool-call popups.

The Jet Builder v3 beta work brings a responsive layout, a dark theme, and improvements to reconnecting and recovering your work. Navigation and workflow visibility are also getting more attention.

Use the responsive builder layout on smaller screens and switch to a dark theme. The responsive layout is an initial version.
🔄 Reconnect and recover your session
Reconnect to the builder after an interruption and restore execution state after a reload. Tool results remain available in the conversation, and errors can be reviewed in chat.
🧭 Navigate your app and workflows
Move between routes in the preview, inspect version changes, and open the workflows list from the builder. Workflow logs give you more context when reviewing a run.

See the credits left while you build and access billing and upgrade options from the builder.

Use the assistant to work with users, teams, and their properties. Configure collection and action permissions as part of the app’s setup.

Bring synced resources into the building flow and work with functions and triggers through the assistant.

Confirmation prompts give you a point to review the assistant’s proposed action. Updated app navigation and user settings make it easier to move around the builder.

June’s updates expand the tools you can connect and the project activity you can review. Action forms also make inputs easier to understand and configure.
🔎 Track more project activity
Audit logs cover changes to users and groups, resources, agents, workflows, environments, and project settings. Use the activity history when investigating how a project changed.
🔌 Connect more of your tools
New MCP connections include Apify, Ahrefs, Confluence, Webflow, and Exa. Jet-managed resources also add Mapbox, Apollo, Brandfetch, Exa, FullEnrich, and Reducto.
MCP connections and Jet-managed resources are separate connection options. Check the relevant integration guide for setup and billing details.
🎛️ Configure action inputs with more clarity
See field descriptions alongside inputs, enable optional fields, and explicitly send a null value. Structured array and object parameters are displayed as fields for supported MCP actions.
💬 Respond to the assistant more easily
Suggested response options help you answer assistant questions. Updated message formatting makes quotes, tables, and tool responses easier to read. Jira triggers are also included in the integration updates.

📬 Use agents through email and MCP clients
Give an agent an email address or connect it to an MCP-compatible client. An “Ask Agent” workflow step can send its reply back to an external channel.
📚 Add knowledge from websites and text
Import website content into a library or paste text from your clipboard. Keyword search complements AI Search, and resource tools show their sync status.
🛠️ Add skills and run Python
Give agents additional capabilities with Agent Skills. Python support in Execute Code adds another way to process information during a task.
📄 Preview files in the conversation
Open previews of PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, and HTML files directly in the conversation to review the result in context.
⚡ Run workflows when your data changes
Use resource triggers to start workflows when connected records change. Resources with trigger support can also use automatic real-time sync, with updates for Attio, Asana, HubSpot, and Intercom.

15 September 2026: AI-first guide structure
The guides now start with building an app using Prompt Assistant. Added focused articles for prompts, data connections, safe testing, publishing, agent setup, and governance. Classic App Builder remains available for existing drag-and-drop projects.
14 September 2026: Migration guides
Added Migrating a project to Jet Admin, with guides for Salesforce, HubSpot, Shopify, Stripe, and Airtable.
The guides cover connection setup, direct and sync modes, prerequisites, and troubleshooting. The overview explains data blending and its read-only limits. We also revised the articles for clarity and restored their links back to the overview.
