# Troubleshoot syncing

Identify whether the problem concerns a connection, schema, or record values.

| What you see | What to do |
| -------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| New tables or fields are missing | Confirm access in the source, then [sync schema changes](/user-guide/synced-tables/sync-schema-changes.md). |
| Fields exist but values are old | Check sync status and last-sync time, then [run a manual refresh](/user-guide/synced-tables/refresh-data-and-manage-sync.md). |
| Sync is paused | Review the status and sync controls for the resource. |
| Sync fails | Inspect sync events and the provider's connection requirements. |
| Only some records are missing | Check the source view, filters, and selected tables. |
| A joined result is empty | Confirm both sources have synced and the join keys match. |

## Verify a refresh

Choose a known source record and note its ID and a field value. Run **Sync now** where available, then compare the same record in Jet Admin after the sync completes.

Schema refresh and data refresh solve different problems. A successful sync does not change the access granted by your source credentials.

## Get help

See [A data resource is failing to sync](/faq-and-troubleshooting/a-data-resource-is-failing-to-sync.md). Include the resource, environment, exact error, last successful sync time, and one example record ID. Remove credentials from screenshots and logs.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.jetadmin.io/user-guide/synced-tables/troubleshoot-syncing.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
